2012/13 Fall-Winter Season Events

POWER PLAYS 3
WHEN: October 21, 11am - 8pm
WHERE: Multipurpose Room, CBU Campus
WHAT: a day-long theatre workshop - a crash course in theatre creation - dealing with acting, writing, directing, producing, and any other theatre skills participants wish to develop. We get together at 11am and create a series of brand-new plays to be performed at 7pm that night.


ANNA, BY THE SEA, by Sheldon Currie
When: November 10, 17, 24
Where: Island Arts Cafe (Cape Breton Fudge Co), 15 Prince St, Sydney.
What: When Italy enters World War II, the Canadian government begins rounding up Italian immigrants, including Cape Breton coal miners like Tomassio. To make matters worse, Tomassio's pride, arrogance, and philandering ways make him unpopular with the local Protestants. When Tomassio escapes from prison, and his greatest rival turns up dead, his wife, Anna, must risk everything to keep her family safe.

The Cape Breton Stage Company is proud to present the Cape Breton premiere of ANNA, BY THE SEA, adapted by Sheldon Currie from his novel Down the Coaltown Road. The play stars Jenn Tubrett, a longtime CBSC member and a member of Cape Breton's Italian community, is directed by Scott Sharplin, with audio design by Aaron Acosta. Special musical guests will also appear before the show.

What: Celebrate the romance of Valentine's Day with the dread of dating and the zombie apocalypse.
